Traditional Chinese Medicine:  Acupuncture, Cupping, Guasha, Acupressure, Herbal Medicine

All sessions are with Althea Northage-Orr, a licensed Acupuncturist with 40 years of clinical practice. (see bio in “About Us”). The first session is typically an hour long, and includes a detailed clinical history, reading the pulses, meridian palpation and examination of the tongue. Patients are encouraged to bring any lab work, medical records, a list of medications and/or herbs and supplements that they may be taking.  This is a very personalized approach that includes careful consideration of the patient’s life style, diet and spiritual and emotional needs.  Follow-up sessions are typically a half hour for acupuncture, but may be an hour if bodywork or other techniques are used.

Cost: one hour $130, half hour sessions are $70

Shiatsu:  A Japanese style of Acupressure Bodywork, Shiatsu is deeply relaxing and healing.  Perfect for those who hate needles, meridians are gently stimulated in a variety of ways to balance the meridians and relax the muscles. Althea has been a certified Oriental Manipulative Therapist for over 40 years.  Sessions last one hour and cost $130

Massage Therapy:  All practitioners are licensed in Massage Therapy and have been in practice for a number of years.  A variety of styles are available.

Structural Therapy:  Based upon the work of Ida Rolf, Structural Therapy is a deeply therapeutic system of bodywork that addresses the causes of pain and injury.  Designed to be done in a 10 session format, this work realigns the structure by working from “the outside in.” The first three sessions release the contractures of the outer body support muscles, the 4 middle sessions address the core muscles of the neck, pelvis and spine.  The final three sessions integrate the body in a highly individual way, allowing the patient to learn how to better stand and move in the field of gravity.  Single sessions can also be done, but for long term change the series is recommended. A number of Structural Therapists work out of our space; all are certified and trained in the method.

CranialSacral Therapy:  This work is an offshoot of Cranial Osteopathy, and addresses imbalances in the body by gently adjusting the cranial bones and the movement of the cerebrospinal fluids using a very light touch. This work enhances the natural energetic flows in the body and promotes healing. Deeply relaxing, this work is perfect for those with PTSD, anxiety, depression and many other conditions.  The Center has several qualified practitioners.

Herbal and Nutritional Counseling:  Master Herbalist Althea Northage-Orr uses the lens of Chinese Medicine, Western Phytotherapy and Functional Medicine to craft dietary, herbal and supplementation individualized to fit your precise circumstances.  Althea has been an herbal educator and clinician for many years.  In addition she raises many of her plant medicines herself at Glastonbury, her 80 acre forest farm in Indiana. The first session is typically an hour long and includes a detailed clinical history, reading the pulses, meridian palpation and examination of the tongue. Patients are encouraged to bring any lab work, medical records, a list of medications and/or herbs and supplements that they may be taking.  Followup visits are generally a half hour long.
